Enough Is Enough: Kue Youth Lead Protest to Chief Over Tribal Unrest

In response to escalating tribal tensions in Nkwanta South Municipal, Oti Region, the youth of Kue took a stand. - The Chief of Ayibe (Ewe tribe)

- The Spokesperson of the Chokosi people
During the gathering, the youth shared their frustrations and fears about how the conflict affects their safety, livelihoods, and access to basic services. They made it clear:
“Tem Kotokoli is not part of the conflict, but we have been heavily affected. Our people—Tem Kotokoli, Kabre, Konkomba, Chokosi, Bassare, and Ewe—have all suffered losses despite not being involved in the tribal disputes.”
Key Demands from the Youth
The youth presented a list of critical demands for both the Chief of Kue and higher authorities:
- Immediate and bold intervention from security agencies
- A peaceful and lasting resolution to the tribal conflict
- Protection for Kue residents and travelers
- Accountability for those responsible for the violence
They called on the Chief to forward their message to key leaders, including:
- The Paramount Chief of Akyode, Nana Obombo
- Traditional Councils
- Security Forces
- Government Agencies
A Pledge from the Chief of Kue
In response, the Chief of Kue assured the youth that their message would not go unheard. He pledged to communicate their concerns to the relevant authorities and urged all community leaders present to collaborate in seeking peace and stability.
“We must stand together as one people. Peace must prevail, and innocent lives must be protected,” the Chief emphasized.
